Kurious Knead

Dwell in Australia, just finished chemical engineering degree. I find all sorts of stuff interesting. I'm pretty distractable I guess. Discoveries in nature, physics, space, chemistry - pretty much the whole natural world - get me all sweaty. Crafty human innovations get me grinnin' as well. New and inspiring artists... Interesting folk with interesting outlooks... Crazy sports... Really just looking to be amazed or consumed by a story, no matter what the context. That'll do :)

 

Gallium (periodic symbol: Ga) is a bit of a fun metal in that it has a melting point of around 29 degrees Celsius. This means it will melt in your hand as a result of your body heat…  On a side note, ‘Galinstan’ or Gallium-Indium-Stannum(Tin) alloys have a freezing point at -19 C meaning they are liquid at room temperature. They are therefore a sort of safe alternative to mercury in that you can play with them and they won’t give you mercury poisoning.
